man smoking cannabis weed device tips for new products

The world of weed has evolved significantly in the last 20 years. From the debut of the dab pen to the explosion in hemp-THC drinks at your local liquor store, there are more options than ever for plant fans. Once you’ve established your preferred consumption method, be it edibles, vape carts, or good old-fashioned flower, you may want some accessories to complement the journey.

With so many different weed devices on the market today, it may be hard to know which one is best for you. Whether it’s a high-end gravity bong or an attractive yet affordable vape battery, there’s a cannabis accessory for everyone. If the local headshop has your head spinning, here are a few easy ways to determine your next purchase.

What are you looking to get out of it?

This is an important question to ask, both when you’re starting a cannabis journey or shopping for a new device. What are your goals? How do you hope to feel?

On your accessory hunt, there are many things to consider. If you’re hoping to reduce the risks associated with smoking, a dry herb vaporizer may be calling your name. If you enjoy dabbing but hate the torch and rig set-up, an enail may be for you.

Determining how you want your weed accouterment to work for you is critical before you start browsing. The next question centers on your cash flow.

What’s your budget?

There’s no doubt that weed accessories have an incredible range of price points. From the super cheap rolling papers to the heady glass worth tens of thousands, there’s a cannabis item for every budget.

Basic glass pieces can start out at $5, while vape batteries may start at $10. Just remember that you get what you pay for, and tossing a few more dollars could get you a better quality piece and more bells and whistles. Those looking for a vaporizer can expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $420, depending on the brand, functionality, and hardware.

For more cost-conscious tokers, Grav steamrollers are hefty but will likely run less than $20. Folks who want an easy (and inexpensive) way to dab should consider a Lookah Seahorse Pro. Just tap the heated coil to your oil and inhale for a robust rip. At only $52.99, it’s a steal.

If you have a bit more cash to work with, invest in something like a Venty from Storz & Bickel. This high-end vaporizer may seem expensive at $449, but it’s built to last and could ultimately save you money in the long run since it likely won’t need to be replaced for years.

There are also plenty of ways to compromise. If you’ve been coveting a Puffco Peak Pro, the brand’s Pivot device is a solid pick. The highly portable pen deploys the same 3D chamber as Peak at a fraction of the cost (only $129 vs $420). The Bomb e-rig is also another option; it may not have the flash of a Puffco, but it offers big clouds for only $173.

How practical is this weed device?

Once you have a budget, you must also consider the logistics of owning your shiny new toy. Visualize where it will live, how often it needs to be cleaned, and if it requires any special accessories.

For example, a Volcano vaporizer is a classic and fun way to consume. But the desktop device also takes up a decent amount of real estate. Fancy e-rigs like the Studenglass Modul make enjoying extracts a breeze, but they must also be adequately maintained to function properly (and for a long time). Without a bit of planning, those impulse buys could become a burden.

It would be a shame to drop a wad of dough on a cool new device only for it to end up in a closet or, worse, broken after a few months. Make sure you’re thinking about the long term before you swipe that credit card.

Sesh better

Buying a brand-new weed toy is always a treat. But picking one can be overwhelming with so many accessories on the market. Follow these tips, and you’ll surely be satisfied at the next sesh.
