Amanita muscaria

Drink your shrooms? New muscimol product promises a liquid trip

Liquid Trip review

Mushroom enthusiasts have been exploring psychedelic compounds outside of the usual psilocybin strains. Amanita muscaria is one of those alt-shrooms holding rapt attention of psychonauts, but don’t come in expecting the same experience as magic mushrooms. Muscimol is a compound found in amanita muscaria mushrooms that may have psychedelic, hypnotic, sedative, or depressive properties.

One draw is that muscimol is unscheduled and mostly unregulated. Therefore, it’s technically legal in 49 states (Louisiana has laws against the stuff). After determining if they were legal, I tried the latest muscimol product from Koi CBD.

Trying MusciMind Liquid Trip

MusciMind, a Koi CBD brand, harnesses the power of muscimol with its new offering Liquid Trip. The sweet liquid muscimol shot also contains active ingredients like Rhodiola, lion’s mane mushroom, and mimosa hostilis bark–nootropics intended to enhance the drink’s experience.

Like the MusciMind gummies, Liquid Trip contains red food dye, which might turn some off. Anyone on prescription pharmaceuticals or other supplements should also consult a professional before throwing Muscimol into the mix.

The liquid version evokes a more intense, faster-acting effect than the gummies. However, reviews on the website are varied, with some claiming that the drink did nothing and others citing a mild buzz and notable relaxation.

Clock me as someone with a mild buzz, notable relaxation, and a bit of a twisted mind. About twenty minutes after ingesting the sweet strawberry watermelon drink, the world started taking a new shape for me. The first effects I noticed were a flopping tummy, heavy eyes, and a floating feeling in the chest.

Goose pimples developed on my shins as time went on, and my jaw clenched up in those first twenty minutes. I felt uneasy, as if I had accessed a new energy well and didn’t know where to direct it. But after only ten or twenty awkward minutes, I settled into the vibe.

Maybe not a magic mushroom trip, but definitely something

That’s what Liquid Trip brings: groovy vibes and no visuals like many magic mushroom strains. This may be why some reviewers claim the drinks don’t work. Unhappy customers may be expecting a psilocybin trip, and that’s not what this is.

Those who go in with muscimol-focused trip expectations rather than psilocybin may enjoy the joyful, creative energy that comes with a shot. I also found that Liquid Trip removed barriers to my unedited emotions, allowing me to be more present and in tune with myself while it worked.

Trippy feelings are to be had, even if it doesn’t match a shroom high. My body felt heavier, and my hands were tingly. One note that I wrote during the experience was “Oogly googly,” which, honestly, is the perfect way to describe the peak effects.

After forty minutes, the effects started snapping in and out like a slow-motion rubber band, though I was definitely still feeling it. There was some lost time, but unlike psilocybin, the peak experience lasted only two hours. However, I was left feeling out of sorts for four to six hours.

There was little to no comedown as the effects wore off, provided I drank enough water. Thirst was unquenchable in the hours following the muscimol experience. Also, I was ravenous for food three hours after taking the Liquid Trip shot. All in all, the side effects aren’t too bad.

Liquid Trip brings a creative edge to edible psychedelics

MusciMind muscimol supplements are an intriguing addition to the arsenal of psychedelic compounds, bringing a “legal” trip to people in most of the U.S. The Liquid Trip product interested me because it can be easily manipulated into other forms. Sure, many psychonauts have dabbled in brewing shroom tea, but this product opens more doors.

Liquid Trip can be made into a euphoric mocktail as an alcohol alternative for the next all-adults hang. It can also be stirred into jello molds or shots, floated atop an ice cream float, or anything else that strikes someone who likes to be creative in the kitchen. With this product, MusciMind introduced a new way to be creative in how we prepare and present psychedelic mushrooms, but simply drinking it is cool, too.

The world of unregulated psychedelics isn’t always ripe with good apples, but in the case of MusciMind, the products seem trustworthy. Based on my personal experience they worked for me, but as with all psychedelics you’ve got to come with the right set and setting.

Anyone who enjoyed the brand’s gummies will also find the Liquid Trip worth a try. As for those on the fence, go in with an open mind, not comparing the experience to a psilocybin trip, and you may be in for a treat.
