Wellness-focused supplements are in high demand. Kanna and functional mushrooms are at the top of the list for many, with products pouring onto the market made with either, and sometimes both. Fun Guy offers gummies, tinctures, and chocolates with special fungi, kanna, and more intentional herbs and plants.
Fun Guy provided me with the full suite of products to test out (minus the sold-out chocolate), and I’m here to report the entire experience. While I tried several SKUs, some I liked more than others. Here’s the scoop.

Fun Guy mushroom and kanna products
Fun Guy offers Perform and Mellow elixirs (tinctures), Flow and Chill fruit chews, and Flow chocolates. The adjectives hint at the formulation’s goal, which includes various functional mushrooms, herbs, flowers, and more. Those who take medications should check in with a doctor about potential contraindications before experimenting with these products.

Perform Elixir ($36)
One bottle of Perform Elixir contains lion’s mane, cordyceps, holy basil, guarana, goji berry, Rhodiola rosea, Panax ginseng, ginger, and lemon extract. The mushrooms are organic, and the formulation is meant to promote sustained energy, brain power, and a strong libido.
I took two to seven doses weekly for a bit over a month. I felt the effects in a more residual way than the other products. Perform showed its power over time after regularly taking it rather than making me feel immediately different.
Before starting, I functioned in quiet chaos with little organization of my goals and needs throughout the week. As the bottle reaches empty, I am actively using an in-depth day planner and self-care app to optimize what little time I have in a day. One might say that I’m actively performing better in life, and with a name like Perform, I can only give some credit to the Fun Guy elixir.

Mellow Elixir ($50)
Mellow Elixir promises a “calm amidst the chaos,” something many could use right now. The formulation includes 20 mg of kanna per dose with reishi, chaga, valerian root, kava, cinnamon, and vanilla. These plants and shrooms are meant to dispel stress and anxiety while optimizing the nervous system.
It felt appropriate to try Mellow after two snow days spent watching my three-year-old while writing. First off, the flavor is delicious. It reminds me of eggnog without the thick creaminess. This tincture would make a great evening drink with warm oat milk and magnesium.
Five minutes after taking the elixir my busy brain almost felt as if it was deflating. My temples settled, and a bit later, a pleasant heaviness took over my physical body. It was welcome, though I can see how some might feel weighed down.
After the initial effects kicked in, Mellow fulfilled its promise. I was laid back despite reading shocking news stories while caring for five to nine living things.

Chill Fruit Chews ($30 for 6-pack)
The Fruit Chews offer a one-bite journey. Chill chews contain 20 milligrams (mg) of kanna and a proprietary 1000 mg blend of l-theanine, reishi, and Chinese skullcap. They have a mango flavoring, but the bitter reishi still cuts through despite some sweetness.
My brain felt as if it was floating ever-so-slightly about five minutes after consuming two Chill fruit chews. It was not flighty; I was able to focus while my body felt groovy. After thirty minutes the float turned to loopiness, as if I could lay down and take a nap. I ate some lunch instead, which did not deter the effects. Two hours and a vaped bowl later, I learned the hard way that it is good to stay hydrated before and while enjoying Fun Guy.
All in all, Chill does the trick. I was fully relaxed while still present.

Flow Fruit Chews ($30 for 6-pack)
Each Flow Fruit Chew has 25 mg of kanna, and the label asks people to start with two. That is 50 mg for those counting. Before I tried the Flow Fruit Chews, I felt dysregulated. A few minutes after enjoying the chews, all of the bad vibes in my body felt like they were floating up out of me as if it was carbonation finding the surface of a glass.
After 20 minutes, my palms felt sweaty, and I decided to chug some water, which helped balance things out. Things hit a plateau after thirty minutes, but the final effect was a bit too groovy for a chill working afternoon. I felt very in my body, ready to take on what was ahead of me–provided it did not require too much focus.
Flow would be fun to have out at the club or festival in place of alcohol or a solid way to enjoy a quiet night in with trippy movies.
