dogwalkers pre-roll review: Flowering cannabis plant

There is a luxury to smoking a joint. It requires the time to sit, enjoy, and relax in an unrushed experience. Unfortunately, many people want to puff one without worrying about it taking 20 minutes. For that crowd, there are Dogwalkers.

The idea for the brand hit Ben Kovler while walking his late dog Bailey.. What resulted are small joints that take about five minutes to consume, and they do work in that short amount of time.

Dogwalkers give back

I tried a pack of Brownie Scout strain “Sit” Dogwalkers, the indica-dominant option. Hybrid strains like Blue Dream and Orange Herijuana are labeled “Stay,” while Durban, Clementine, and fellow sativas say “Play.”

The packaging and branding, which has remained the same since a 2018 overhaul, struck me immediately. The small dark green tin has the usual information on the outside, brand name and cannabinoids and stuff, and a testament to man’s best friend on the inside. Inside are five 0.35 gram joints rolled with full-bud, no trim.

A cartoon of Bailey sits beneath some information about Dogwalkers. That is where I learned that animals in need receive a portion of the proceeds.

“For Dogwalkers, a brand that was inspired by the companionship of Ben’s own special pup Bailey, it is only fitting that we created the ‘Bailey Legacy Fund’ to support nonprofits dedicated to bettering the lives of animals,” GTI Brand Manager David Bleicher said in a press release. “We are grateful for the opportunity to support organizations that rescue, care for, and connect deserving dogs with their forever homes.”

By 2021, GTI had donated $34,000 to five animal shelters and programs in Florida, Nevada, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Maryland. We requested an updated donation amount but it was not provided. Anyways, I love a charity and animals, but the quality of the cannabis is also crucial.

Trying Dogwalkers tiny joints

Brownie Scout is a delectable cross of Kosher Kush and Platinum GSC, a relaxing strain for a perfectly timed mini joint. The situation started rocky because I was unsure if I liked the initial flavor, but things developed nicely. It was grassy at the start, a classic Kosher Kush note that confused me in the first few puffs. As it burned down, the other half of its lineage shined through with a more hashy, earthy quality.

I was properly stoned once I got down to the filter tip. Not just a little high—so stoned that I had to take a moment to collect myself. This could be because I rarely smoke joints anymore, genetics, or quality.

The sensation started at the top of my crown on the first toke before melting down my neck and shoulders. This overtakes the rest in a total body high with softened muscles and tendons. The brain joins in, unable to focus, flitting around from butterfly to butterfly, never focusing too long. It is a lovely indica effect that reminds me of The Soap strain, which I recently reviewed. From flavor to effect, Dogwalkers Brownie Scout is delicious.

Dog not required to enjoy these joints

Tiny joints are taking over if the news is to be believed, and I can see why. A little bit goes a long way with the Dogwalkers Sit pre-rolls that I tried. Between the layered flavor and the effects making me blinky-eyed for a hot minute, it’s a win. This is a valuable joint option for those who don’t have all day.
