Election Results: 2022 Cannabis Legalization
Two states went green in this 2022 election.
On November 8th, Missouri, Maryland, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Arkansas voted on the issue of adult-use cannabis legalization. Maryland was first to vote for legalization, becoming the 20th state to do so. Missouri later followed suit.
Adult-use cannabis remains illegal in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Arkansas.
The election brought the total number of states to legalize adult-use cannabis in the U.S. from 19 to 21.

ARKANSAS
Issue 4, Marijuana Legalization Initiative:
With 84.6 percent of precincts reporting, The Associated Press projects Issue 4 will not pass. Adult-use cannabis remains illegal in the state of Arkansas.

MARYLAND
Question 4, Marijuana Legalization Amendment:
With 28 percent of precincts reporting, The Associated Press projects Question 4 will pass, legalizing cannabis in Maryland.

Amendment 3, Marijuana Legalization Initiative:
With 88.5 percent of precincts reporting, The Associated Press projects Amendment 3 will pass, legalizing cannabis in Missouri.

NORTH DAKOTA
Statutory Measure 2, Marijuana Legalization Initiative:
With 95 percent of precincts reporting, The Associated Press projects Statutory Measure 2 will not pass. Adult-use cannabis remains illegal in North Dakota.

Initiated Measure 27, Marijuana Legalization Initiative:
With 97 percent of precincts reporting, The Associated Press projects Measure 27 will not pass. Adult-use cannabis remains illegal in South Dakota.
