Hurricane Helene rebuilding efforts gain unique cannabis ally

Americans have been privy to a slew of natural disasters this year, with people left to pick up the pieces after losing their homes to unforeseen floods and fires. Rebuilding takes time and funds, and both are hard to come by for many these days. One European cannabis seed company is looking to help a heavily impacted region.
Zamnesia, a seed and cannabis gear company, launched the Art for Asheville design competition to inspire North Carolinians and give back to survivors of Hurricane Helene all in one.
“As a part of Zamnesia’s team based in Weaverville, I’m especially looking forward to highlighting the vibrant artist community here,” Joel Schantz, general manager of Zamnesia US, said in a press release. “This initiative is a beautiful way for us to give back to the region. It’s all about celebrating the spirit of Asheville and its people while making a meaningful impact.”
Zamnesia label design contest benefits North Carolina
The contest invites North Carolina artists to submit label designs for the new Zamnesia strain Blue (Ridge) Haze Automatic. Whoever wins the prize will reap some benefits, but the seed pack will continue giving back to the community. 100 percent of proceeds from Blue (Ridge) Haze Automatic will go to BeLoved Asheville, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to helping the people impacted by the hurricane. Repairs will cost almost $60 million according to state reports.
While charity is commendable, this contest goes further by inspiring North Carolina creatives to channel their muses. Zamnesia is asking artists to create a label inspired by the theme “Asheville Strong.” The winner will be chosen based on the creativity, thematic alignment, suitability for packaging, and potential impact displayed. AI is not permitted in the creation process, and all other rules, regulations, and directions to enter are listed on the Art for Asheville design contest website. Submissions must be in by April 1st.
Blue (Ridge) Haze Automatic is for the people
The selected label will get the artist “significant exposure” in company press releases. They will also get three Blue Ridge Haze seed packages ($27.90 each) and a 420 Mystery Box valued at $300. Zamnesia will announce the winner on April 20th.
Nick Avè, general manager at Zamnesia, also issued a statement in the release.
“This package design contest is more than a competition—it’s a platform to showcase local North Carolina talent while giving our global customers a meaningful way to support the community as it rebuilds,” Avè concluded.
