International Women’s Day (IWD) is Saturday, March 8th. The annual celebration recognizes the achievements of women around the world while also raising awareness of issues such as gender equality and reproductive rights. Events marking the occasion take place in cities across the globe and online, with everything from 5ks to comedy shows on the schedule—even the cannabis community is getting on board.

One of the biggest weed-centric IWD soirees is happening in Los Angeles. Level Up, presented by Smoke & Flowers, is going down from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm at the Smoke Show HQ in Venice Beach. The gathering will feature interactive exhibits, infused goodies, a lunch and learn, and much, much more, Level Up seeks to help women “uplift, empower, and blaze new trails.”

After Level Up, head down to Long Beach, Calif. for the LLC Social Celebrating Women in Cannabis. Taking place at Schooner’s from 4 pm to 7 pm, this brand showcase has tons of women-owned brands on deck, including Space Gem, Cam, Autumn Brands, and Mota Glass.

Up the California coast in Oakland, Honoring Her: A Celebration of Women Entrepreneurs is happening between 3 pm and 7 pm. Showcasing women-owned brands boosted by weed mocktails and a live DJ, the event is also for a cause. It lists the non-profit Ladies Love and Living as the benefactor. The gathering is set to take place at the Root’d in the 510 dispensary with a “dress to impress” vibe. 

Over on the East Coast, the team at Conbud dispensary is hosting a yoga flow to honor IWD. Taking place at sister business Conbody from 1 pm – 2:30 pm, the event offers breathwork along with movement meant to relax and restore. The day is hosted by the canna-friendly Sam Martins, a popular yoga instructor and plant advocate.

Weedy Women’s History Month

The celebrations don’t end on the 8th. Since March is also Women’s History Month, there are plenty of events taking place over the next few weeks.

On March 15th, the inaugural Dope Roots CannaFest for Women is taking Minneapolis by storm. Scheduled for 12 pm to 4 pm at the Machine Shop, this event features local women-owned brands, a relaxation lounge, and education about the benefits of low-dose hemp products.

Back in California, NorCal Women in Cannabis is going all out for Women’s History Month. Happening on March 22nd between 1 and 5 at Barrel Proof Lounge in Santa Rosa, the jam-packed day has chair massages, plant-based facials, a DJ, arts ‘n crafts, and plenty of women-owned weed on the schedule.

Female empowerment extraordinaire Blunt Brunch is hosting its annual Women’s History Month tea party on March 27th from noon to 3. Taking place just outside Phoenix in Peoria, Ariz., the “Pouring into Power” affair is set to be an elegant and inspiring afternoon filled with treats, networking, and lots of fun.

If you’d like to tap into the spirit from the comfort of your computer, the Cannabis Chamber of Commerce is holding a free webinar titled “How to Become Successful Women in Cannabis.” A panel of powerhouse entrepreneurs features Adelia Fahkri, Lauren Fontein, Rachel Wright, and Keiko Beatie. The hour-long conversation kicks off at 1 pm PST, covering stories of success and strategies to thrive in the evolving industry.

International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month are both getting bigger every year, with commemorations across the globe. Whether working in the cannabis space or just a fan of the plant, there’s bound to be a celebration just for you.
