A high-class high starts with this weed accessory
Longtime cannabis connoisseurs have likely thought about how the interior space serves their sesh. In many cases, the whole thing hinges on the fire. Whether fueled by a novelty lighter or the flick of a Bic, many cannabis consumption methods require a flame. Those hip to their pulmonary health may have switched to lighting bowls and joints with hemp wick. This wise decision calls for a new accessory already commonly used in cigar joints–the table lighter.

Table lighters, or tabletop lighters, offer what the name implies. These sturdy, refillable systems create a fervent enough flame to light a cigar, joint, or hemp wick. Though many product images depict people holding the table lighter up to light a joint, that may not be the most industrious use of the piece. Lighting a hemp wick and bringing that up to the bowl, joint, blunt, or bong is the ideal way to utilize these tools.
The accessory may be less wasteful since many lighters are one-time-use landfill fodder. They also often add a delightful design touch to a space. There are refillable portable lighters, but a tabletop option adds more heft and won’t get lost in the couch cushions. Most of these refillable lighters will use butane fuel unless otherwise specified.
There is a fabulous table lighter for everyone, no matter their style. These are some GreenState favorites.
Edie Parker ($195-295)
Edie Parker, the go-to for avant-garde cannabis accessories, has been at the forefront of weed-specific table lighters for years. Like its boiled egg ashtray and underwear bag, the brand’s tabletop lighters have personality. The rounded glass model nestles over an ashtray for an all-in-one solution and is available in many colorways. The Peas and Butter options are also pretty whimsical. However, the Edie Parker line of Jelly Tabletop lighters gets the most props.
The brand first released the Jelly line in fruity dessert flavors, but the most recent drop gets savory with it. Lemon jello mold lighter is joined by Olives, Eggs, Peas and Carrots, Lobster, and Shrimp. Lift the jelly portion of the conversation starter to reveal an ashtray. This thing does it all.
Colibri ($175)
The Quasar Desk Lighter from Colibri is geometric, bold, and sleek. It gets its name from the shape. A quasar powers a galaxy and sits at its core. It is exceptionally bright and obviously powerful, much like this hot, blue flame.
It is also thoughtfully designed. This accessory is wind resistant, has a triple torch that meets in on a hot vortex, and a non-slip bottom. Available in black, white, gun-metal grey, red, and navy, this table flame is meant for the Utilitarian friend who may run from the idea of having a jello mold displayed as decor.
Houseplant ($85-280)
Houseplant was founded by filmmaker Evan Goldberg and actor Seth Rogen. The longtime media collaborators shifted into weed in 2019 with the launch of the weed-centric housewares company. The brand has a few table lighters available now, both of which are on sale. The silver Block Table option is cool, it slides open to reveal an ashtray, but the real money is in the Marble Car Lighter.

Rogen famously loves joints, and the car lighter is a staple of his past consumption. While they no longer grace vehicle dashboards, now one can occupy the living room. The website perfectly describes the aesthetic here, “Looks like something a wealthy banker would have had in 1988 but didn’t because this object didn’t exist then.”
Hunting Season ($325)
This classic, leather-bound table lighter is small but mighty. The Square Table Lighter was handmade by a Colombian brand named Hunting Season. The lizard lining the outside was responsibly sourced in that South American country.
The piece, standing about two and a half inches tall, has two components: the sturdy case and a lighter that drops into the top. Refilling this option is as easy as pulling out the lighter and getting to it.
Canna-style ($59)
Love weed? Say it in French with this Canna-style J’adore Oui’d Tabletop Torch Lighter. The custom-designed rose gold and blush pink lighter looks like a perfume bottle mixed with an old typewriter. The flame is windproof and adjustable. It is classic and luxe, while also being one of the most affordable options on the list. Voila, it’s perfect.
Thomas Hayes Studio ($300)
Furniture maker Thomas Hayes has more than dining chairs and tables. The artist’s online shape also carries square table lighters. The Table Top Lighter is made with Black Walnut and White Oak and finished with natural oil. There are many available, but each is one-of-a-kind and handmade. At just under four inches high, the unique piece will speak to anyone who loves natural touches in the home.
Antique Murano Glass ($150)
Smoking indoors was more common 30+ years ago, which means some excellent antique lighters waiting to be found. One of these is the red diamond cut Murano Glass Tabletop Lighter. Looking like a ruby red crystal apple with a refillable lighter slid into the top, this is a classy way to spark up.
The piece dates to the 1960’s and sits four inches high. While no one retailer is carrying this treasure, there are options available online–or probably in an antique shop somewhere.
