Weed strain is worth far more than it first appears
In the street art community, slaps refer to slapping stickers on a street lamp post. In the cannabis community, the Slapz strain is the child of Runtz and Grease Monkey. The indica hybrid strain is said to have gotten its name from effects that have a person teetering from stoned to sober like they’d just been slapped in the face
Washington state breeder Exotic Genetix created Slapz in the late 2010s. The company is known for flagship strains like Cookies & Cream, Starfighter, and Grease Monkey. They released Grease Monkey between 2016 and 2017 and crossed it with Runtz soon after. The result is a heavy-hitting flower that throws people into a combination of giddy euphoria and temporal relaxation–plus, it’s pretty to look at.
I tried a Slapz variety grown by Firebros out of Washington from Trippy Hippie dispensary, which vets brands for pesticide-free, ethical practices.

Slapz strain look, small, and taste
Firebros Slapz strain features chunky, purple buds and an earthen gas smell that can quickly fill a room. This indica variety combines the compact bud structure of its parent Runtz and the dank aromatics of Grease Monkey.
These flowers are much larger than Runtz, which sometimes produces small, hard pebbles. Slapz forest green and purple buds are long but dense and bulbous. As for the smell, that is unmistakable. Classic cannabis aromatics of skunk, diesel, and lemon burst from a jar of Slapz.
As for taste, musky patchouli and gas are the winners; the lemon aroma did not shine through when I vaped this flower in my Volcano. While the smell was stellar, what came next was alright.
Effects of the Slapz
How cannabis feels relies a lot on each person and their endocannabinoid system. Still, some effects can be determined by weed genetics. Honestly, Runtz strains never hit for me. That’s not to say it does not work for others; my system simply never dug it. I do feel something with this variety, but it doesn’t provide the full-body relief that I desire.
Slapz did not relax my body much. It did relieve my stress enough to focus on the task at hand. I easily concentrated after consuming this one, but it was a little wobbly.
Enjoying this from a bong created a whirlwind of drive but also a slight air of confusion. This was a balance beam experience, teetering into the stoned world and back to feeling sober as I walked through the next few hours.
I would not consider Slapz a beginner strain despite my commentary on how it hits. This weed is a creeper; at one moment, you feel completely sober, and the next, your eyes are drooping. Try this one in a safe place before considering risky activities on the Slapz.
