Cannabis strain is not what it appears–it’s better

There are a few weed names that refer to multiple flavors, like the Purple Mango strain. Purple Mango may be a sativa or indica-dominant experience, depending on the source. Certain Purple Mango is said to be a cross of Mango Kush and an unknown parent, but this review is about the other.

I tried Purple Mango from Dewey Cannabis Co. in Washington state, an indica-dominant cross of Purple Tahoe and Mango Sherbet. Dewey, a scientist founded brand, is special. This is due in part to its exceptional quality control–buds are hand-trimmed and hand-selected.

The eighths never exceed five buds, meaning little nugs don’t make it into Signature Flower jars. Those are likely saved for Dewbies pre-rolls. In my experience weighing, selling, and buying weed, five is my favorite amount of buds per eighth. There’s something to it.

There is little information as to who created this version of Purple Mango’s genetics, but after trying it, I’d like to find out so that I can thank them. The scent of this flower takes my breath away, plus it has considerable effects. That is one enticing combination.

Purple Mango appearance: smell, taste, and looks

Purple Mango smells and tastes how it sounds, plus the buds are dense and sparkly. One whiff of this variety brings on a wave of juicy mangoes with earthy, musty notes reminiscent of Cannatonic. They appear hunter-green with some splotches of dark purple. Calyxes are chunky, dense, and bulbous with visible, sparkling trichomes. And it is just as tasty as it is gorgeous.

To get a well-rounded view of the taste, I popped some ground-up Purple Mango into my Storz & Bickel Volcano. Mango hits first with slight camphor coming through on the back end. For a moment, the tropical mango flavor sticks around on the tongue as the symphony of effects takes hold.

How does the Purple Mango strain feel?

Those seeking a chilled-out body effect that takes the mind down with it– look no further than the Purple Mango strain. I find that toking out of a bong provides me with the most accurate effect experience, and this time, I used a Weeday bong.

I felt a little buzz in my temples that merged into my eyes, making them droopy and classically “stoney.” This quickly expanded to shoulders, still tense from a workout. Then I lost track because of the other half of this one-two punch. While my body relaxed despite its constant urge to tense and crink up my brain joined the party.

Purple Mango doesn’t completely knock me out, but it does remove a few layers of focus from my consciousness. I found myself losing the plot often and getting sidetracked on quests that were not the task I set out to complete. As such, save this for after work, chores, and other key tasks are completed.

I will return to this every time my body needs help, which is often. The Purple Mango strain provided me with a much-needed release of my tense muscles and joints, a true blessing for this aging Millennial.

There are few viewable negatives to this delicious indica-dominant hybrid, it’s definitely worth buying again.

When it comes to mangoes, opt for purple

When a strain name has Purple in the title, many will expect a well-rounded body effect, and Purple Mango delivers just that. While the mind wanders, the body settles. That is what makes for a wonderful indica strain. Provided it’s the right Purple Mango, this is a must-try.
