Weed strain is a monster for more than one reason
Seasoned stoners often believe they have seen it all–even me. But I’m greeted with a new cannabis strain every so often that immediately makes the favorites list. This happened recently with Monster Berry, a flavor from Viking Cannabis in Washington. The variety offers the best of the indica world–a heavy body and an unbothered mind. For those who haven’t been following this long-standing strain review series, that is my recipe for success.

Monster Berry strain appearance, smell, and taste
The Monster Berry strain is a cross of Mandarin Sunset and Skunkberry. While this hybrid is called Monster Berry in Washington, the same mix is available at Kip dispensary in Maryland. This version is called Member Berry. There is not much information available about Viking Cannabis–no socials or even a website. As a result, little is known about who combined these two strains in Washington–or anything else really. However, we can grasp some information about the parent plants to learn more about this flower.
Mandarin Sunset is an Ethos Genetics variety that combines the illustrious Herijuana with Orange Skunk. Skunkberry unsurprisingly combines Skunk and Blueberry. A fruit smoothie scent that presents a delightfully mellow experience is the result of this combination.
Monster Berry grows voluptuous nugs with trichomes that sparkle to the naked eye. The flower grows light green with some dark purple notes and brown-orange pistils. Break one open, and sweet berries burst forth, leading the luscious aroma.
Underneath those notes is a subtle but bright citrus scent. These aromatics are forthright in the flavor, too. Sweet berries and oranges were prominent when I vaped the flower in my Storz & Bickel Volcano.
Effects of the Monster Berry strain
The effects of Monster Berry are an indica lover’s dream. I felt a stirring in my temples and chest immediately after hitting a bowl in my Weeday bong. This welling of activity slowly melts into a tranquil pool of relaxation that ultimately releases any tension or strife hanging on. Clinging stress that clenches the neck and shoulders could dissolve.
I was like a kitten chasing a butterfly not long after that bong rip. Nothing could keep my focus. This might sound like a bad thing, but for some, it is just what they are looking for. Additionally, when a strain causes me to lose the plot, it often leads to losing my cares, too. This lasts for a while. After a bowl of Monster Berry, I am left careening into the next few hours like Mr. Burns in that Simpsons episode where everyone thinks he is an alien.

A monster of a weed strain
Monster Berry is not for everyone, but it is for me. Those who find it hard to relax and whose neck and shoulders are tense like rocks might, too. Unfortunately, anyone outside of Washington or Maryland may have trouble finding it.
