Basketball icon Carmello Anthony brings weed brand to NY

Celebrity cannabis brands have built a solid space on dispensary shelves. In addition to the obvious entrants like Cheech and Chong or Seth Rogen, athletes have marked their spot in the market. Whether it’s CBD lotion for post-game recovery or rec flower for relaxing off the court, there are sports-inspired brands for every type of consumer. Now, legendary Hall of Fame basketball star Carmelo Anthony is cementing his place in the weed biz by expanding his STAYME7O brand on the East Coast.

Pronounced “stay mellow,” the new couture cannabis line is launching in New York, where Anthony played for the Knicks for seven seasons. The expansion isn’t just about business: it’s also a way to give back. According to a release sent to GreenState, the company is prioritizing partnerships with minority-owned retailers.
“This isn’t just about cannabis—it’s about empowering our communities, uplifting underserved entrepreneurs, and creating meaningful opportunities that support and celebrate our culture,” Anthony said in the release.

The line includes all-in-one vapes and flower in eighth jars. To underscore their commitment to community, Anthony, along with business partners Jesce Horton of Oregon-based The Lowd and award-winning creative director Brandon Drew Jordan Pierce (“Beedy”), will donate a portion of STAYME7O proceeds to two non-profits. The first, Last Prisoner Project, advocates for the release of nonviolent cannabis offenders. The other, NuProject, offers networking opportunities and financial support to diverse entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry.
“It’s essential we open doors and create meaningful opportunities for these communities,” Anthony said.

STAYME7O will soon be available in dispensaries across New York, from Lower Manhattan to Buffalo. Anthony and Horton first launched in Oregon in 2024, but given the first-round Hall of Famer’s long relationship with the Empire State, it was only a matter of time before it headed east.
“New York is home, and bringing this project to life here feels incredibly personal and full circle,” Anthony concluded.
