Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day in an all new way

cannabis saint patricks day: Shamrock and leprechaun hats

Generations of Americans have spent Saint Patrick’s Day visiting pubs, drinking green beer, and often getting too inebriated to drive home. That is still on the table, but these days, those who want to celebrate the greenest day of the year have more fitting options.

Cannabis is legal in almost 80 percent of the United States, and weed drinks are more available than that. With these developments, why not avoid the hangover and stick to pot this St. Paddy’s Day. Here are some festive ways to stick with the holiday spirit without the booze.

Green cannabis cocktails

There is a cursed traditional cocktail called Liquid Marijuana Drink that has no cannabis in it but is a bright green hue. GreenState adapted that recipe to remove the booze and add weed back in for its own take on the Liquid Marijuana Drink.

This version utilizes fresh ingredients with bright Blue Curaçao to create a vibrant green. Shake or stir some of these up, and nobody will miss green beer. However, remember to warn guests that cannabis digests differently than beer and to dose accordingly.

Foliage bouquets

Have friends over for a floral arrangement party this Saint Patrick’s Day. However, switch it up when it comes to the aesthetic. Provide luscious hemp stems with fan leaves and nugs alongside other green foliage like scented geranium, eucalyptus, bay leaf, ruscus, and many more.

Everyone will go home with a festively green bouquet and a new appreciation for components often overlooked as filler. This inventive celebration can be sprinkled with on-brand Saint Patrick’s Day food (corned beef hash and colcannon anyone?), music, and decorations to drive home the theme.

Use fan leaves as food coloring

People all over America dye food green for pure delight on Saint Patrick’s Day. Why not use fan leaves to get the job done this year? These are filled with green chlorophyll but are not quite as strong as an artificial food dye would be. They are rumored to add a healthy dose of antioxidants without intoxicating effects, though. Anyone with an abundance of fan leaves would be remiss not to try to bake a batch of green St. Paddy’s Day muffins with them.

Dispensary scavenger hunt

Not everyone wants to enjoy Saint Patrick’s Day at home. Many love the active nature of a pub crawl. These events take groups to different neighborhoods where they see new faces. It is an experience that goes beyond alcohol. Bring that same energy to a dispensary scavenger hunt.

Apply a weed theme to a scavenger hunt list or BINGO-style card to take the show on the road, just like a pub crawl. The list can feature products that can be purchased at these locations, fueling the local weed economy and validating the visits. After the event is over, everyone will be blessed with packages of delicious, hand-picked weed to share together. It’s not a bad way to enjoy the holiday.

St. Patrick’s Day could be extra green

Saint Patrick’s Day in America has become a very bar-forward, drunken holiday–now could be the time to change that. As cannabis takes over the country one state at a time, who’s to say it shouldn’t be included in the greenest holiday of the year? Try one of these fun scenarios to bring the plant into St. Paddy’s celebrations.
