This celeb chooses weed for standup, writing, and sex

Fans of the podcast series Club Random with Bill Maher are no strangers to the comedian’s love for weed. He lights up throughout each interview, talks to guests about their cannabis consumption, and has even refused to put the joint down when a sober guest asked him to.

The man is a weed stan, whether the plant is getting him good or negative press. Most recently, Maher made headlines for explaining why he likes pot to CNN broadcaster Chris Wallace.

When Wallace prompted the media personality on whether he likes weed, Maher responded, “I love it.”

He explains the facets of being high next, but perhaps a little too simply. Maher claims that cannabis makes some paranoid, some sleepy, and some high. That is true, but there is also anxiety, hunger, body tingling, and so many more effects. It is also possible that stoned people feel sleepy, paranoid, and high all at the same time. All that aside, Maher claims a stake as part of the third camp–he gets high.

Maher states that cannabis makes him better. He also clears the air on exactly how much weed he smokes, asserting that it is not as frequent as many assume.

“People think I’m a huge pothead who smokes all the time. I don’t. I don’t even smoke every day. I smoke situationally. When I want to be at my best at something,” Maher said.

This is how the interview comes to the why: three reasons Maher consumes cannabis. Wallace wants to know if he is high at the time they’re talking, to which Maher declares he is not and identifies three specific times that he finds cannabis helpful in his daily life.

Bill Maher likes to smoke weed before/during:

  1. Standup
  2. Writing
  3. Sex

Maher doesn’t need cannabis for the interview because he’s completely comfortable in that setting. However, in the three situations mentioned above, he enlists help from the plant. This is an excellent reminder that being productive with cannabis requires understanding how it works with each individual. Maher’s observations are nothing new.

Cannabis has a longstanding tradition as being great for creativity like that required for standup or writing. Additionally, science continues showing that the plant might bolster sexual function. After this interview, Maher appears on par with his fellow heads. Like many, his passions lie in matters of the mind and heart.

“That’s my life. Those are the things I care about,” Maher concluded.
