New cutting-edge marketplace speaks to unstoppable trend

Fewer young adults are drinking alcohol, making space for non-alcoholic spirits and cannabis seltzer brands to fill the gap. Grocery stores have started stocking these options, and bars frequently have a selection of mocktails on the menu. Sober(ish), an online marketplace that offers an entire shop to those seeking a non-alcoholic buzz, capitalizes on a growing trend from a thoughtful place.

Founder Kim Gamez recently shared more with GreenState about how the platform got going.

“I started Sober(ish) because I was tired of the hangovers and wanted something fun that didn’t come with all the negative side effects of alcohol. After losing my dad to drinking and watching my mom struggle with addiction, I knew there had to be a better way to enjoy life,” Gamez explained.

When Gamez’s mom moved in with her to overcome an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, they started experimenting with mocktails and other alternatives. The pair documented these endeavors on social media. They found a way to make sobriety fun together, and viewers responded. Soon after they started sharing their journey, Sober(ish) was born.

What you’ll find in the Sober(ish) drink shop

Now, the marketplace offers a variety of products for the Cali sober, canna-curious crowd. Sober(ish) Drops, Squiers Specialty Elixirs, and other hemp-derived cannabis products are available alongside non-alcoholic liqueurs like Three Spirit Elixirs.

Three Spirit utilizes euphoric herbs, functional mushrooms, and other plants known to cause a “buzz without the booze,” while other drinks capitalize on cannabinoids. Co-founder Tatiana Mercer is thankful to have a partner in Sober(ish) who can clearly articulate their core mission.

“The non-alc beverage category has experienced double digit growth in recent years,” Mercer said. “This rise in demand is not just about cutting out alcohol; it’s about people seeking drinks that offer more. Functional beverages, like those in the Sober(ish) marketplace, are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible by going beyond flavor and focusing on benefits like mood enhancement and well-being.”

This unique online shop combines non-alcohol, euphoric options with cannabis, in a move that emphasizes the wellness potential of the plant. Magic Cactus, one of the cannabis drink brands available on Sober(ish), is made with relaxing L-theanine, rejuvenating electrolytes, and hemp THC. Founder Jonny Locarni shared more about the partnership.

“We’re seeing a cultural shift where people are more intentional about their consumption habits, whether it’s reducing alcohol intake or seeking alternative wellness products. Sober(ish) taps into this trend, and Magic Cactus fits seamlessly into that narrative with our non-alcoholic, hemp-infused beverages.”

A Magic Cactus is included in the Sober(ish) Giggle Grass Sampler Box. The pack of hemp-THC drinks also includes a few packs of edibles. This curated box is perfect for those curious about drink alternatives and anyone who loves to try new things. And while cannabis is a considerable component of the shop, there are lots of non-infused mocktail bases, bitters, and other ingredients available.

Non-alcoholic drinks are here to stay

Sober(ish) brings a community of brands together with their ideal customers: people looking to unwind with an alcohol-free beverage. Weed or not, each product on the site aligns with the mission to platform safe and sexy alcohol alternatives.

“Sober(ish) is all about offering fun, easy options that give you a buzz without the booze—and without the regret the next day,” Gamez said.

The Magic Cactus team, and presumably the other brands selling in the marketplace, agree.

“Together, we’re helping more people find enjoyable, low-commitment ways to relax and unwind without the negative effects associated with alcohol,” Locarni concluded.
