Mental clarity was my favorite effect of this mushroom seltzer

brez flow review

As young people turn to cannabis and functional supplements over alcohol, companies are shaping their drink offerings to match. I previously reviewed one named BREZ. The cannabis seltzer includes lion’s mane mushroom for added clarity, and I really liked it. When the brand recently reached out about a new formulation, I knew it had to be reviewed on GreenState.

Flow, the latest BREZ drink, is an elevated version of the brand’s original lion’s mane formulation. On a scale of one to 100 percent satisfaction, customers were about 70 percent pleased with the effects of that drink. CEO Aaron Nosbisch wanted better.

“We like to hold our brand and its products to a very high standard,” Nosbisch said. “Despite the immense success of our BRĒZ Lion’s Mane blend, we were not happy with the satisfaction rate we were seeing. This was actually not due to the flavor, but to the intended effect that not everyone was feeling.”

The result is an effervescent beverage that gave me much-needed mental clarity.

Here’s what you will find in the can.

All about BREZ Flow drinks

Flow is a bowl of lemons in a shimmering can. There are three different lemon-themed items on the ingredient list, including Italian lemons, lemon extract, and lemon juice. This translated into a well-rounded flavor that fills the mouth rather than settling into one place. There is an astringent quality that imitates alcohol, which makes me sure this would make excellent mocktail fodder. The drink is complemented by elderflower in taste and a handful of functional ingredients like 33 mg of lion’s mane extract.

Here is a quick breakdown of the functional ingredients and their benefits (as perceived by preliminary studies, wellness practitioners, and anecdotal data):

  • Chicory root inulin: may aid digestion, lower cholesterol, and help maintain bowel health
  • Cacao extract: may elevate mood and support heart and cognitive health, sourced from organic Peruvian farms
  • L-theanine: can sharpen focus while promoting relaxation, according to many users
  • Black seed oil: rich in omega fatty acids, which aid digestion and anti-inflammatory efforts
  • Lion’s mane: many use this to fortify memory, promote nerve regeneration, support overall brain health

These ingredients are synergistic, meaning they work together towards a common goal.

“BRĒZ FLOW is crafted for those seeking a natural way to bridge the gap between their morning and evening routines. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to stay motivated and clear-headed during the day,” said Nosbisch.

Trying BREZ Flow mushroom drinks

I popped open a Flow drink on a mentally scattered day capping off a challenging week. My goal was to drink yummy bevvie and hopefully feel a bit more on top of my stuff.

Half a can in and I felt lightness where heaviness once sat and suddenly I was getting work done at a breakneck speed. The feeling I got wasn’t caffeinated or manic. It felt like formerly permanent-seeming obstacles had simply moved. Everything seemed to require less resistance.
I also put Flow to the test at night. After work, I often enjoy a crisp pilsner or bubbly weed drink, but sometimes I’m not down for the impairment. Flow served as a delicious nightcap. Although it left me clear-headed mid-day, it did not keep me up at night.

Mix it into a mocktail, add THC, and make it a cannabis drink, or sip it straight. However you drink Flow by BREZ, I’m behind it.
