Goodbye PSL, hello pumpkin-spiced CBD! Whether you hate it or love it, pumpkin undeniably continues to reign supreme as the ultimate fall flavor (though there was a strong showing from apple spice last year). According to social media analytics company Sprout Social, conversations online about pumpkin spice in 2021 surged a whopping 347% the first week of fall, closer to when Starbucks released their annual pumpkin line early than the actual start date of fall, September 22.
For those who are a little pumpkin’d out, it can be admittedly it can be pretty hard to avoid as all the pumpkin-flavored goodies taking up shelf real estate (especially when the offerings can get a little weird. Pumpkin spice energy drinks, anyone?). For those who love that spice, it can also be hard to avoid the frothing hatred some people seem to have for it, associating it with infinity scarf-wearing, tote bag-clad “basic” folks. Even Taylor Swift tweeted last year about “not caring when people make fun of pumpkin-flavored stuff ’cause you love it and are happy it’s all the rage”.
This might be a classic case of “too much of a good thing can ruin it”, but we’re starting to see new and intriguing takes on pumpkin spice coming from unexpected places. We agree that just because something can be pumpkin spiceified, doesn’t mean it should (dog treats, I’m looking at you), but these are by far the additions that have piqued our interest the most.
The best pumpkin spice products should think outside the coffee chain cup, and we’ve rounded up the boldest ones worth trying out this fall. The good news is you don’t even have to wait for the temperature to dip to get your pumpkin on!
1. Martha Stewart Pumpkin Spice CBD Wellness Gummies
When she’s not stripping down to go “fall naturale” in a cheeky nod to her line of Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice coffee pods, Martha Stewart wants to add something new to your wellness routine this fall season. The lifestyle expert’s limited-edition line of pumpkin spice CBD gummies features not only 10mg of the purest form of CBD isolate per gummy, they’re also packed with a subtle, gourmet version of the most recognized fall flavor.

2. Native Pumpkin Spice Deodorant
This one frequently makes a lot of “Most Bizarre Pumpkin Spice Products” lists, but if one of the other most popular deodorant brands on the market is literally “Old Spice“, why shouldn’t skincare with spiced notes just add pumpkin to their scents? Inspired by everyone’s favorite fall drink, Native’s PSL deodorant has delightfully cozy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Bonus: it’s super effective for sensitive skin, too, with simple ingredients and no aluminum or baking soda.

3. Cello’s Pumpkin Spice Rubbed Fontal Cheese
Imagine hosting a grown-up Halloween party and pulling out a charcuterie board with this creamy, hand-rubbed pumpkin spice cheese. You might get a few looks, but there’s precedent for the sweet-with-cheese pairing anyways. Pumpkin spice isn’t just for fall, and this blend of cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and a touch of honey will compliment a smooth, spiced wine like The Dip for dinner parties year-round.

While it won’t smell like the fall favorite, you can actually give your bear a tiny pumpkin spice latte.

5. Southern Tier Pumking Whiskey
There are far more interesting ways to drink your pumpkin these days than just in a simple cup of Joe – we’re talking pumpkin ale, pumpkin spice lattes with tequila, and tequila with notes of both pumpkin and spice. But we recommend Southern Tier Distilling Co’s Pumking Whiskey, which combines the sweetness and rich aromas of pie spice, cream, and pie crust, with a mild whiskey you can enjoy on the rocks, or in an appropriately-themed Halloween cocktail. Pie’s the limit, here, but remember that this boozy pumpkin packs a 70-proof punch.

We can’t promise it’ll turn your car into the Pumpkinmobile, but it’ll effectively clean and shine the exterior of your ride with just a mist and wipe of a microfiber towel.

8. Ancient Nutrition Bone Broth Protein
We know that bone broth is a nutrient-packed powerhouse, but does that mean it has to taste so…brothy-y? Well, the answer is no! Ancient Nutrition’s Pumpkin Spice-flavored bone broth is closer to a protein powder than a gut health-supporting soup based. It’s lightly sweetened with stevia leaf and monk fruit extracts to make that fall-inspired taste. One scoop has 20g of protein, so you can swirl it in your morning coffee for a more protein-packed PSL, or use it in baked goods.
