Controversial brand sells the most weed in America

The piecemeal approach to weed legalization has led to a lack of consistency in the market. Unlike other consumer-packaged goods, which can be shipped across the country, cannabis is state-specific. Product availability varies widely from state to state, although many brands have been able to expand their footprint considerably. Knowing this, one may wonder: which brand is the biggest in America?

In terms of cannabis sales, there’s definitely a clear winner. And if you guessed the mega-popular Cookies, you’d actually be off base. According to Hoodie Analytics data provided to GreenState, the country’s top-selling weed brand is another California-based behemoth: Stiiizy.

Available in seven states, Stiiizy is best known for its proprietary vape pods. The brand also has flower, pre-rolls, edibles, and a newly launched beverage in a wide variety of strains and flavors. With so many SKUs and branded retail, the company is raking in the dough. According to Hoodie, Stiiizy raked in $625 million in sales in 2024 alone.

The mega-brand is not without controversy. Stiiizy has faced multiple lawsuits in recent years, alleging everything from banned pesticides in their products to involvement in the illicit market. Last month, the company was hit with a massive data breach, potentially affecting upwards of 400,000 customers.

Despite negative press, consumers continue flocking to Stiiizy. The brand even has its own subreddit, with more than 13,000 subscribers. In addition to being the overall top-selling cannabis brand, Stiiizy is the second-best-selling brand in the pre-roll category, with $122 million worth of joints sold last year.

Following Stiiizy in overall sales is Select, with $453 million. The Curaleaf-owned brand is also known for its vaporizers but also offers a line of edibles. In third place is High Supply, bringing in $382 million last year. The flagship flower brand by Cresco Labs is available in several states but has particular dominance in Illinois, where weed sales have remained robust.

Brand loyalty in cannabis will continue to evolve along with legalization. However, brands that emerged as clear favorites in the early days of regulated pot could be staking their climb in the future nationwide market. Whether Stiiizy stays on top remains to be seen, but with over half a billion sold in 2024, the outlooks are seemingly positive.
