Weed is popping up all over NYFW SS25

Cannabis has slowly infiltrated New York Fashion Week since the state legalized the plant. Last year, filmmaker Luis De Javier featured the it-brand Flamer (and their weed products) at the afterparty for his premier. For the 2025 collections, weed has found its way into VIP gift bags and runways this season.

Vertically integrated brand and dispensary The Travel Agency packed gift bags to accompany the AKNVAS Spring/Summer 2025 show at Hudson Yards. Guests received a combination of quality cannabis products and fashionable merch.

AKNVAS is a Danish brand known for its whimsical takes on modern trends. The SS 2025 collection, Nordic Midsummer Camp, featured the ever-present microshorts in a textural buffet of denim, lace, and florals.

“The juxtaposition of sturdy fabrics with delicate lace, eyelet cotton, and striped shirting evokes a balance between strength and vulnerability, reflecting the modern-day scout’s journey through urban spaces, embracing both grit and grace,” the brand wrote on Instagram.

The runway was presented in three stories, starting with “Urban Scout,” featuring denim looks styled with black Stuart Weitzman riding boots. This was followed by looks embodying themes of “Monochromatic Flower Fields” and then “Radiant Dew.” The showing hoped to evoke the same feeling that the texture provides.

The Travel Agency bag had its own array of intentionally-paired goodies. Guests opened their bags to find Drew Martin Botanically-Infused pre-rolls, Ruby Farms Elderberry Sage live-resin gummies, 1906 Bliss Drops, and the brand’s black dad hat.

AKNVAS creative director Juul Nielsen appreciated the sartorial touch to the gifts.

“I quite like the dad cap—it kinda has a Balenciaga vibe, and I can see many people wearing them,” he said in a press statement.

This was not the only design house that partnered with a weed company. Gotham NYC helped Grace Ling incorporate pre-rolls into the Ready-to-Wear show. One model hit the catwalk in a hunter-green short set with brilliantly hemmed but jagged edges. The look was styled with pointed-toe flats and the iconic Butt Bag, and the butt was filled with joints.

The second look was more demure—mindful, even. This model was adorned with a floor-length, ethereal black and gray dress. She held a flower arrangement at her side, complete with white pre-rolls.

Fashion Week is an international institution, but everyone gathers when the show comes to New York City. Only the best are welcomed onto the elite guest lists of NYFW, and The Travel Agency is excited to be among the first weed brands invited.

Srđa, partnerships and events manager for The Travel Agency, shared their excitement to marry fashion and weed with GreenState.

“We’re dedicated to elevating cannabis to the same level as other luxury goods. Collaborating with a designer like Christian Juul Nielsen who is already making waves in the scene, made this the perfect partnership to redefine high fashion,” Srđa concluded.
