Get ready to update your Christmas list, The Emerald Cup concluded Sunday evening — handing out essentially the Academy Awards of California cannabis in 11 categories. Next time you’re in a dispensary, make sure to ask to smell any Roze, Mimosa #3, Sour Tangie, or some OG Private Reserve. Those are some of the hottest flavors of the incoming year.
More than 900 contestants entered the 17 year-old cannabis contest, music festival and expo, which took over the Sonoma County Fairgrounds Dec. 9-10 and featured headliners The Roots. Much like fashion, one minute you’re in and the next minute you’re out.
Boutique growers Molecular Farms upset the field their designer Lemon Crush, while second and third place finishers fit in with popular trends: second place went to a Roze from 3rd Gen Family, and an OG flower took third.
